The Man.
Warren Krumke was my father-in law. I met Warren when I first started dating his daughter Melissa in early 1988. By that October Melissa and I were married, and for the next nine years Warren became a good friend, and someone I admired. On April 30, 1997, at the age of 70 years and 11 months, Warren passed away and left behind a long list of people who miss him to this day, me included.
The Boat
Sometime in 1982 before we met, Warren set out to build a boat. Warren had built boats in the past, but this was to be his pride and joy. He had retired from his job, and he planned to use the boat to crab, oyster and fish the Potomac River waters around his home in Tall Timbers Maryland. These Kodak pictures are dated October 1982 on the back. Unfortunately, no one took detailed photos of Warren and his work in progress.
The Name
Warren named his boat after the only women in his life. My wife Melissa is his younger of two daughters. Alleen is his other daughter, and Charlotte is Warren’s wife. From their names he came up with MAC, or the “Big MAC”. Melissa and Alleen joke that he should have named the boat “Charlotte’s Kitchen” because he promised to remodel her kitchen when he retired. The kitchen never did get remodeled, but I’m sure he meant to!
I don't know when this picture of Warren & Charlotte was taken.

A New Beginning.
This is what the “Big MAC” looked like when Warren passed away in 1997. My mother-in-law Charlotte gave the “Big MAC” to me, and I have been trying to figure out if that was a blessing or a curse ever since. This blog will highlight changes I have made to the boat, repairs I have made, and anything else I can think of to share.
